Return Policy

Conditions, eligibility criteria, and the step-by-step process for returning precision measuring instruments, LED display boards, and industrial equipment purchased from Comet Instruments.

Overview

Comet Instruments maintains a fair and transparent return policy to ensure customer confidence when purchasing precision measuring instruments, LED display boards, and industrial equipment from cometinstruments.com.

Returns are accepted under the specific conditions outlined below. We deal primarily in high-precision electronic instruments and manufactured display boards — due to the technical nature of these products, returns are evaluated carefully to protect both customers and the integrity of the products.

Return Window

Returns must be initiated within 7 days of the delivery date for standard in-stock products (measuring instruments, standard LED boards, accessories). Return requests raised after 7 days from the delivery date will not be accepted.

For products under active manufacturer warranty (Fluke, Bosch, Hioki, FLIR, Testo, Metrix+, etc.), defect-related issues beyond the 7-day return window should be reported directly to the manufacturer's authorised service centre. Comet Instruments, as an authorised dealer, will assist in facilitating the warranty claim.

Eligible Reasons for Return

Returns are accepted only for the following reasons:

1. Dead on Arrival (DOA) / Defective Product: The product does not power on or function as advertised upon first use. Must be reported within 48 hours of delivery.

2. Wrong Item Delivered: The product received is different from what was ordered (different model, brand, or specification). Must be reported within 48 hours of delivery.

3. Physically Damaged on Delivery: Visible physical damage (broken casing, cracked display, bent probes, etc.) present upon delivery. Must be reported within 48 hours with photographic evidence.

4. Significant Discrepancy: The product specifications are materially different from what was described on the Platform at the time of purchase.

Non-Returnable Items

The following items are NOT eligible for return under any circumstances:

Custom-manufactured products: LED display boards made to customer specifications (custom size, custom display parameters, custom enclosure), OEM industrial indicators, and any other product built to order.

Products that have been used, installed, or operated (beyond initial functionality testing).

Products with missing original packaging, accessories, manuals, warranty cards, or serial number stickers.

Products damaged due to misuse, electrical surges, improper installation, or use outside rated environmental conditions.

Products purchased under bulk / institutional purchase orders that were tested and accepted by the buyer's representative at the time of delivery.

Software, licenses, calibration services, or other intangible services once rendered.

Condition of Returned Product

To be eligible for a return, the product must be in its original condition: unused (or DOA/defective as reported), with all original packaging, protective foam/wrapping, accessories (cables, probes, holsters, straps), manuals, warranty cards, and any freebies or bundled items included in the original shipment.

Products returned without original packaging or accessories may be refused or subject to a restocking fee of up to 15% of the product value.

Return Process

Step 1 — Raise a Return Request: Email us at ms_comet@hotmail.com with Subject: 'Return Request – [Your Order ID]'. Include your Order ID, registered mobile/email, reason for return, and clear photographs or a video showing the defect or wrong item. Alternatively, call us at +91 98932 31873 during business hours.

Step 2 — Verification & Approval: Our team will review your request and respond within 48 business hours. If your return is approved, we will provide a Return Authorisation (RA) number and a prepaid return shipping label (for returns due to our error) or instructions for self-return shipping.

Step 3 — Pack & Ship: Securely pack the product in its original packaging. Attach the RA number visibly on the outer packaging. For self-return shipping, use a reputable courier and share the tracking details with us.

Step 4 — Inspection on Receipt: Once we receive the returned product, our quality team will inspect it within 3 business days. We will notify you of the outcome via email.

Step 5 — Resolution: If the return is approved post-inspection, we will process either a replacement or a refund as per your preference and product availability. Refund timelines are as per our Refund Policy.

Return Shipping Costs

If the return is due to an error on our part (wrong item, DOA, transit damage), Comet Instruments will bear the return shipping cost. We will either provide a prepaid shipping label or reimburse reasonable courier charges upon submission of the receipt.

If the return is for any other eligible reason (e.g., significant product discrepancy disputed by customer), the return shipping cost is to be borne by the customer. We recommend using a trackable courier service as Comet Instruments is not responsible for products lost in return transit.

After Inspection — Outcomes

Approved Return — Replacement: A replacement unit of the same model will be dispatched within 3–5 business days of return approval, subject to stock availability. If the same model is unavailable, a full refund will be issued.

Approved Return — Refund: A full refund (excluding non-refundable shipping charges, if applicable) will be processed within 5–7 business days to the original payment method. See our Refund Policy for timeline details.

Rejected Return: If the returned product does not meet the return eligibility criteria upon inspection (e.g., signs of use, physical damage post-delivery, missing accessories), the product will be shipped back to you and no refund or replacement will be issued. Return-to-customer shipping charges will apply.

Manufacturer Warranty

For products carrying manufacturer warranty (Fluke — up to 3 years, Bosch — 2 years, Hioki — 1 year, FLIR — varies by model, Testo — 2 years), defects discovered after our 7-day return window are covered under the respective manufacturer's warranty programme.

Comet Instruments, as an authorised dealer, will assist you in connecting with the manufacturer's service centre in India for warranty claims. Customers may also approach authorised manufacturer service centres directly.

For in-house manufactured products (LED display boards, digital indicators, RPM meters, etc.), Comet Instruments provides a 1-year free warranty from the date of delivery for manufacturing defects. Post-warranty service is available under our Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) at ₹500–₹1,500 per instrument per year.
